The move perhaps also officially marks the end of the Vajpayee-Advani era, which had charted the rise of the BJP from a marginal player in the 1980s to a formidable national player three decades later.

Besides its 111 members, some permanent and special invitees of the National Executive, including chief ministers of all BJP-ruled states, state presidents and all former chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP will also be present at the two-day meet.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court issued a notice to Advani and 19 others asking them why they should not be charged with conspiracy for the demolition of the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.
