Microsoft sends invite for April 7 event, may launch Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL

Microsoft had released the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640XL at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year. The company has sent invites for a launch event for that scheduled to happen on April 7.

The invite does not picture the image of the phone, instead it shows a tag-line "Inspiration doesn't only work 9 to 5!" on a part of the purported Lumia 640 screen.

The Lumia 640 comes with a 5-inch screen that sports a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. And is powered by a Snapdragon 400 quad-core chipset. For multitasking purposes the phone comes with 1GB of RAM. On the memory front, the phone comes with 8 GB internal storage that is expandable using a MicroSD card. The Lumia comes with a 8.7 Megapixel primary camera and a 0.9 Megapixel secondary camera. The phone comes with a dual-SIM slot with LTE connectivity along with other basic options like NFC, Wifi and Bluetooth. It runs on Windows Phone 8.1 which will be upgraded to Windows 10 pretty soon.

The company has not mentioned the price of the device but the device is expected to launch somewhere close to the Rs.10,000 mark.

The Lumia 640 XL comes with a 5.7 inch screen with the same HD resolution found on Lumia 640. The other major difference between the handsets is the 13 Megapixel primary camera and 5 megapixel secondary camera. The latest smartphone-duo from Microsoft will be available on Flipkart after a few days from the launch event.
