New Hotel Openings 2015

Built between 1867 and 1880 to protect Portsmouth from the advances of Napolean III, No Man's Fort opens this month as a unique hotel. A private island of sorts, it stands in the Solent, 1.4 miles from the Isle of Wight, and features 22 bedrooms, two helipads, a games room and its own nightclub

The most exciting property to open in Manchester for some time, Hotel Gotham occupies a former bank dating from 1935 and is awash with slick features. Bedrooms feature travel trunk-style cocktail cabinets and wardrobes; leathers, velvets and faux furs are used throughout; and its bar Brass and restaurant Honey will offer menus that reflect the building's art deco heritage

The first spa in Paris when it opened in 1885, Les Bains Guerbois became a nightclub in the late-1970s and attracted fun-loving celebrities from Grace Jones to Kate Moss until its closure in 2011. Now opened as a hotel, it retains a basement space for concerts and parties, alongside the original black-and-white dance floor created by Philippe Starck

Reopened following a  year-long renovation, the Great Barrier Reef's Lizard Island is only accessible by charted plane and features a private beach for each double room

A new property at Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden, the Oetker Collection's Villa Stephanie is dedicated to wellbeing in all its guises and will offer beauty treatments, detox and nutrition guidance, and emotional and medical care

In Sawangan, Nusa Dua, the Ritz-Carlton Bali includes 34 clifftop and ocean-view villas. There are six restaurants and lounges; the kids' club stands in a dedicated building; and there's an oceanfront wedding chapel available for couples taken with the location's romance
